The New Balance Rainier may be a throwback. But Teddy Santis’ recent endorsement of the hiking footwear has brought it new life among fashion enthusiasts.
The rough proposal has made a comeback in the traditional “Glazed Ginger” in other countries. But a full-on retro cycle has yet to start. Toe and midfoot textile base layers stand out from their brown leather surrounds with a navy hue reminiscent of vintage hiking boots. The black metal hardware surroundes the tongue and the Vibram sole units. It contrast the traditional-looking brown that predominates the Mt. Rainier-inspired design. The profiles and top of the tongue are imprinted with the New Balance logo, keeping things straightforward but heritage-focused.
