“Summit White” Helms The Latest Iteration Of The Nike Air Deldon 1

The inspiration for Elena Delle Donne‘s first Nike Basketball women’s signature shoe comes from her struggle with Lyme illness and the Swooshes “Be True” campaign. It celebrates being true to oneself. The second level of inspiration for the Nike Air Deldon 1 comes from the Beaverton-based company’s “WHO SAID WOMAN WAS NOT MEANT TO FLY?” campaign from 1988.

Known for its Flyease design the shoe’s mesh forefoot and leather midfoot are both covered in “Pale Ivory” color. It enables people with restricted mobility to put on and take off the shoe with ease.  The “Light Smoke Grey” color of its mudguard and Swoosh is accented with black speckles. While the dark grey upper tongue and jet-black collapsible heel counter are two more examples of dark aesthetics. Dark violet elements join the fold, anchoring the tongues pull tab, its lining, and the scant stitching that is present throughout, bringing brightness to the tonally dark ensemble via a “Summit White” Zoom Air sole unit. Also, The stacked ankle collars are branded with the Delle Donne symbol and “FLY.” While the final message, “Together We Fly,” is handwritten over the maroon insoles.
