Since 2014, Nike has kept up its homage to Robert Kraft, one of the most successful sports franchise owners, by dressing up the iconic Air Force 1 and its many iterations in the tonal palette of the New England Patriots. It was just a matter of time before the Air Force 1 silhouette’s 40th anniversary took up the navy, red, and white once more. It follows the release of the AF1 Low Ultra, AF1 High, and Lunar Air Force 1, among other dissimilar versions.
The Flyknit model was used for this latest homage, and the tightly knit upper features the team’s rich “Navy Blue”. Moreover, it is also applied to the laces and the tips of the tread, which have a glossy finish. The threaded eye stays, Swoosh trim, and sole-unit that wraps around the whole model all feature the trademark red colors. The embroidered Swoosh on the midfoot gives a dazzling white tone that is color-matched along the debossed “AIR” midsole underneath, further boosting the overall mostly blue look.
The tongue and heel tab are secured by grey suedes. Whereas, the sock lining is constructed of nylon, rounding off the selection of patriotic colors. Numerous emblems pay homage to the legendary brand, including the Flying Elvis logo that appears on the back tab and insoles. Also, the six embroidered stars that are positioned beneath the R.K.K-branded dubraes and replicate the organization’s six Super Bowl rings.
