adidas, which is constantly on the cutting edge of innovation, just introduced its initial line of virtual wearables.
The restricted collection of blockchain-based non-fungible tokens (NFTs), housed under the new “Virtual Gear” product category, is the next stage in the Three Stripes quest to establish itself as a strong force inside the open, community-based metaverse. Existing Phase 2 Capsule NFT holders already have access to the first virtual wearables range. Moreover, it includes 16 pieces that connect adidas’s history and present. The brand’s / Studio (Three Stripes Studio) will continue to explore the metaverse for the German sportswear juggernaut. They are behind the collection.
According to Erika Wykes-Sneyd, vice president of / Studio, “every capsule bearer has a choice at launch. Burn and express their virtual identity with adidas’ first Virtual Gear collection, or list and allow others to join this community.” “Adidas will investigate every practical utility, platform, and experience within Web3 to unlock new possibilities for our wearables. It will have an emphasis on concrete value and immutable utility for our community members,” the company said. “Whatever the circumstance or location, adidas is always in contact with the trailblazers. At this point, in whatsoever worlds they decide to live in.”
The metaverse is still in its infancy. However, all of the Three Stripes’ most recent NFT products are in condition to respond to and fit into future Web3 environments. Virtual avatars can access and wear items. These include items such as puffer jackets, hoodies, and biker jackets, through a profile picture (PFP) dressing tool. With its innovative designs, the debut “Virtual Gear” collection undoubtedly looks to the future. However, it also pays homage to classic adidas Originals models like the Superstar. The 16-piece collection includes three limited edition creator-led wearables. Also, it pays homage to the Three Stripes’ first Web3 collaborators, Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC), Gmoney, and Punks Comics.
Once they choose to unveil and change their Capsule NFT, owners of the adidas Originals: Capsule NFT Collection, which debuted in May 2022, can already find out which of the 16 unique pieces have been assigned to them. To receive one of the 16 new digital wearable NFTs at random, collectors must consent to “burn” the Capsule NFT they currently possess. Starting today, anyone else who is interested in the Genesis Virtual Gear collection can buy the virtual items through the appropriate NFT marketplaces.
